The 5 Signs of Pregnancy
Pregnancy is a period filled with hope, anxiety, and anticipation for the expecting mother. But the anxiety begins only once you realize that you are carrying a child inside. But how do you come to know that, without having to visit a doctor? Well, getting pregnant means lots of changes to your body, physically as well as emotionally. So the signs are there. You just need to identify them. So, here is a little help in the form of the Top 5 Signs of Pregnancy, which will help you realize that you are pregnant.
1. Missed Period
A missed period is perhaps the foremost sign that you’re pregnant. If you are planning to get pregnant, this might be the first sign to look out for. If more than a week has passed beyond your due date, you may be pregnant.
2. Tender Breasts
The early phase of pregnancy causes hormonal changes. These changes can initiate a kind of discomfort in your physical appearance, one of which is soreness of breasts. So, if you’ve been feeling sensitivity in your breasts, you may be pregnant. But don’t worry, this sign disappears when you are a few weeks into pregnancy.
3. Nausea/Vomiting
Another common sign of rising hormone levels is the onset of nausea, which may or may not be accompanied by vomiting. This condition is commonly known as ‘morning sickness’ but it can occur at any point of time during the day, or not at all, in cases of some expectant mothers. Sometimes, nausea also causes fatigue and sleepiness. So, if you’ve been experiencing frequent bouts of nausea, you may be pregnant.
4. Frequent Urination
Once you are pregnant, the amount of blood in your body increases as increases blood circulation. Your kidneys need to work overtime to process this increase in the amount of liquid, so, you’ll also need to increase the frequency of your visits to the toilet. Are you doing that frequently? Yes? Then, you may be pregnant.
5. Bloating
Another irritating symptom of pregnancy, one of the happiest periods of a couple’s life, is boating, which is again caused by heightened hormone levels in the body. Bloating occurs at the beginning of your pregnancy, and depending upon your medical condition, it might disappear or last till the end of pregnancy.
Apart from these 5 signs, other common symptoms for an expectant mother could be constipation, caused due to influx of progesterone, sensitivity to smell, and aversion to certain foods.
Once it is established that you are, indeed, pregnant, we suggest you visit a gynaecologist immediately, so that your journey to eventual motherhood is in safe hands.
Happy pregnancy!!!
